Colin Powell resigns

I really like and respect Colin Powell. I never understood why he was appointed Secretary of State rather than Secretary of Defense, but I suppose that doesn’t matter now.

It will be interesting to see what he does next. I heard speculation this morning that by law he is eligible for appointment as Supreme Court justice or Speaker of the House of Representatives. I was amazed to learn that Supreme Court justices don’t have to be lawyers and the Speaker doesn’t have to be a Congressman.

One Response to “Colin Powell resigns”

  1. I don’t generally get involved in politics, but I always though Powell had a sort of integrity about him that crossed all party-boundaries. If our prejudiced nation could possibly vote in an african-american president, it would have been him, no doubt. But, he would likely not have survived it in this hateful world.
