Come back, Colin Powell

Colin Powell appeared on the Jay Leno “Tonight” show last night. In short order, Leno was asking him about the Dubai Ports deal, the White House wiretapping, and other issues of the day.

Powell, as always, was gracious and articulate. Without raising his voice or resorting to political rhetoric, he explained his positions in thoughtful, forthright terms.

I was somewhat reassured about the ports deal after listening to him. When Colin Powell says Dubai and the UAE are to be trusted, I tend to believe him. The man oozes integrity and honesty. I don’t believe he would knowingly lie or manipulate the truth.

As more politicians start positioning themselves for the next election, I am reminded again how deeply saddened I am that Powell left Washington.
