Senator Caroline Kennedy? Sounds fine to me. She’s no less qualified for Hillary Clinton’s N.Y. senate seat than was Clinton herself.
I don’t know why the Clintons are bristling over the idea. Were they hoping to have a voice in choosing Hillary’s successor? Was Bill hoping to be appointed? The Clintons have no more claim to that seat than anyone else. In fact, they are carpetbaggers who moved to New York just so Hillary could run for that seat. Caroline Kennedy has lived in and around New York most of her life.
Sounds to me like yet another case of the Clintons, or their people, feeling entitled. Granted, the Kennedys also have entitlement issues. But right now Caroline seems like a fresh face in the tainted world of professional politics, a citizen stepping up to serve in the manner imagined by our nation’s founders.
Anyway, that’s my two cents’ worth.
