Clinton thoughtful, careful during Rose interview

Charlie RoseCharlie Rose interviewed Bill Clinton last night and I watched to see what Clinton would say or not say about the campaign. Rose was good at boring in when Clinton equivocated. Parry. Feint. Lunge. Politely. Bill seemed subdued but confident about Hillary’s campaign, and surprisingly complimentary about her Democratic opponents, particularly Obama. I had expected him to be trumpeting his wife’s qualifications.

The man is a wily, experienced politician who weighs every word. I don’t doubt for a second that he came across exactly as planned — fair, objective, thoughtful, open-minded. And I don’t doubt for a second that viewers know he is fiercely dedicated to Hillary’s candidacy and will say and do anything to put her (and himself) back in the White House.
