I just saw on Fox News that the FFRF (Freedom from Religion Foundation) has filed a lawsuit to stop the prayers at Barack Obama’s January 20 Inaugural. And with a silent cheer, I dug up and read the details and the first few comments that followed. I was all set to launch into another rant when I realized, for the umpteenth time, that one really can’t reason with people who think atheism is a religion or who believe the absence of a Christian prayer constitutes a denial of the freedom of religion.
So I’m not going to complain again about Christian (or any other) prayers being said at a secular political event that is supposed to represent all Americans of all religions and beliefs. I just don’t feel like climbing that mountain tonight. I’ll settle for pointing out that the suit has been filed and I agree with its contentions. I’m glad there’s someone out there who keeps trying to climb that mountain.
