The sky is falling … not

The media are still going bonkers over swine flu. Have they nothing else to talk about?

Flu is flu. This is a new strain, but there are new strains every year. Biology, evolution, mutation, and all that keep happening.

Influenza, or flu, comes around every year in one form or another. Swine flu is no different. It’s contagious, like any other flu. It spreads from person to person like any other flu. It’s no more dangerous to you than any other flu. If you are in poor health, if you are a child, or if you are elderly, and therefore have a weakened resistance to any form of illness, it poses a greater danger to you, just like any other flu.

It’s flu. It’s just flu. It’s no more or less dangerous to you than any other flu. Do whatever you’ve always done during flu season. You know the drill: Cover your coughs and sneezes. Wash your hands frequently. Don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you get sick, stay home, drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of rest, etc. If you develop a high fever, see your doctor.

It’s just another strain of flu.
