Who doesn’t love a compliment?

Those of you who drop by here occasionally already know, and newcomers will soon learn, that this blog has a bit of an identity problem, rather like its author. Constantly changing moods, topics, layouts. A debilitating lack of focus and purpose. No particular goals to speak of. Blog angst.

Occasionally (rarely) I get put on the spot by someone giving me a blog award. Is mine a serious blog, discussing weighty matters like religion and politics and global warming and immigration — and therefore above the silliness of blog awards and memes and such? Absolutely! (if I’m in that kind of mood) Or is this a friendly little personal, journal kind of blog where I talk family and recipes and the weather and blog awards and memes and such? You betcha! (if I’m in that kind of mood).

Today JavaQueen, whose blog is my ultimate primer on “being real” (move over, Velveteen Rabbit), tapped moi for the Premio Dardos Award, and both my serious side and my personal side are thrilled. Look at the art; words flowing from an antique typewriter. Beautiful concept and execution. I’ve used a large image here, not because it’s an AWARD, but so both my readers and I could enjoy the detail:

Premio Dardos means “prize darts” in Italian, and is given for recognition of cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values transmitted in the form of creative and original writing.

The rules to follow are: 1) Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person that has granted the award and his or her blog link. 2) Pass the award to 15 other blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgment. Remember to contact each of them to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

Thank you, JQ!

Now, as for 15 other blogs … Many of these will be duplicates, people who may have gotten this award already, maybe several times; I won’t apologize for that. Lots of us run in the same circles, and if that means someone garners multiple awards, it just shows how much they are appreciated. Others of you may feel as I often do — “mine is a serious blog; I’m not going to post those silly awards and play that silly game.” That’s okay, too. If I send the recognition your way, take it as a sign of friendship and respect, a note of appreciation from someone who enjoys your blog.  I won’t sic the blog police on you for not posting the award and you still will have gotten a nod here (which might even get you another tick on your stat counter!). And by the way, if anyone should stumble across name of the artist who created this illustration, I would love to give him or her some well-deserved credit.

Incidentally, you are not required to run the picture this big, either. Normally the badge is your typical blog award size, fits in the sidebar and all that.
