I can’t stand it anymore. I’ve got to comment on two stories the press just can’t seem to let go of.

Tiger Woods

Move along, people. Nothing here but salacious interest by the press. Woods is not a public official, not on any public payroll, not paid by the taxpayers. Reporting his private transgressions day after day is not serving any public good or right to know. However badly he may have screwed up his private life, it’s his private life. Try to show a little more class than he has. What used to be “yellow journalism” has become the norm. Ugh.

White House Party Crashers

Some sort of charges should be filed against those party-crashing, celebrity-seeking lowlifes, Tareq and Michaele Salahi, for trespassing or impersonation or lying to the Secret Service or something. And far more importantly, heads should be rolling over this security breach. One Secret Service agent going on camera to “accept responsibility” (while keeping his job) is not enough, not by a long shot. Congress should press its investigation until it gets some answers.

And there’s no way White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers deserves the protection of executive privilege. She’s a social secretary, a party planner, not someone privy to state secrets. It sounds like she’s a big part of the screw-up and should be fired, not protected. (Okay, compromise: she doesn’t have to testify, but she still gets fired.) We’re talking White House security here, people, not some frat party. I want heads! I want accountability!
