In Caswell Lakes, Alaska, a fire started in the workshop of Ben Heinrichs, who barely managed to get himself and his dog, Buddy, out safely. He told the German Shepherd they needed help. Buddy ran out to the main road, intercepted a passing state trooper who was looking for the home and led him to the burning workshop and endangered home.

Buddy is fine and his owner suffered only minor burns, according to an AP story. State troopers awarded Buddy an engraved stainless steel dog bowl for his “diligence and assistance.”
