Retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré did a CNN interview on June 14, a day before Pres. Obama gave his pathetic Oval Office address. He said the kinds of things I wanted to hear from Obama, and didn’t.
As I’ve written before, Honoré is the man I would put in charge of the oil spill crisis. He may be retired, but I’ll bet if Obama asked him to, he’d step up. What on earth could possibly be lost by asking him? Clearly he has a grasp of the overall situation and knows exactly how he would proceed if he were in charge. He makes a lot more sense than anyone else currently on the job. He’s a man who makes things happen and gets things done.
There is an appalling demonstration of ineptitude and lack of coordination in progress in the Gulf right now. The country needs Gen. Honoré again.
This comment has nothing to do with the general’s current mission. I don’t even know if this is the correct place to post this comment, but here goes. I think that Gen Honore should be in charge of the oil spill clean up. I spent several years in the Army and Reserve component and from what I can tell he’s the man for the job. It seems that the cleanup is bogged down in red tape and in need of someone who can make a decesion. From what I’ve seen, read and heard about the General he doesn’t take any crap from anyone. I live in Texas and have traveled farther south many times. I just think that the whole operation needs someone like the General to take charge and quit messing around. That’s my opinion right or wrong. I hope that this gets passed to the General. Tahnk You.
Exactly what I’ve been saying. I wish I had the power to call the general out of retirement or at least ask him to step up again if he’s willing.
