Several top officials of the Susan G. Komen Foundation have resigned in protest over Komen’s withdrawal of grant money from Planned Parenthood. Anger over Komen’s decision has already prompted enough new donations to PP to make up the loss. As for Komen, no amount of money can repair the damage they’ve done to their own reputation; the once-staunch supporter of women’s health sold out.

Good for them and for taking a stand, and shame on the Komen Foundation for bowing to right wing pressure!
From what I’ve been reading, Komen has put a serious dent in their reputation with this move.
That’s the impression I’m getting, too. Not a very smart move. Oh, the power of the GOP coercion. Should have put a bit more forethought into that one.
But then, maybe they did put a lot of forethought into it, but perhaps there are benfits which outweigh the bad publicity and losing support.
That would require some really twisted thinking … oh, wait …
I’ve *never* liked Komen, with their commercialized, profit-driven, predatory pink hysteria.
Me neither. At the very least it has, I think, caused people to believe erroneously that breast cancer is the greatest threat to women’s health. Heart disease is #1.
A lot of that pink crap actually gave little money to the cause – if people wanted to really fund research – don’t buy that pink crap and just give money directly to institutions doing the actual research.
Yep, yep. With any charitable donation, always cut out the greedy middle men and give directly to the intended recipient.
