Alone in the middle of the night, August 5-6, I sat glued to my computer as Curiosity pulled off its extraordinary landing on the surface of Mars. I chewed my nails, I got goosebumps, I cheered, and I cried. It was glorious.
I watched this video just now and did it all over again. The goosebumps, the crying. But this time I was clearly not alone. And it was glorious.
Thanks to IzaakMak for bringing this to my attention.
Your feelings reflect mine exactly PT. Thanks for the plug! 😀
Any time. You find the coolest stuf!
Well, in all honesty, I actually just subscribe to the people who find the coolest stuff!!! 😳
LOL. Obviously. 🙂
it was a great feeling to seeing this when it happened, sat glued to NASAs page and just enjoyed with a big ass grin on my face 🙂
Still hard to believe they pulled off that landing. And now that not-so-little rover is busily doing its thing on Mars like it’s just business as usual. Amazing.
And this is why we need to keep funding space research! We have to stay curious. Not only will it help us see what else was out there, it will also improve our technology here
Absolutely. If it were my decision, I’d be pumping billions more into space exploration. We’ve no way of knowing if it’s the final frontier, but is sure as hell is the next one.
Just corrected this post to say “glued to my computer,” not “glued to my TV.” I was watching both, but all the action was on the computer via NASA-TV.
