It’s Congressional Call-In Day to oppose chained CPI

There’s a push today to call members of Congress and object to the chained CPI included the in the president’s proposed budget. Yesterday petitions were delivered to Capitol Hill. Today is National Congressional Call-In Day. Call your representatives and tell them you object to the cuts in Social Security benefits. Do it for yourself or someone you know.

Ronni Bennett has posted all the contact information you need on her website, Time Goes By.

Repeating the information she supplied:

The NCPSSM (National Committee to Preserve Social and Medicare) has a toll-free number that will connect you to the offices of your Congressional representatives:

Alternately, you can call Capitol switchboard directly and ask for your representative’s or senators’ offices:

And Firedoglake has posted a handy pulldown menu with the direct telephone number of every member of Congress – senators and representatives – listed alphabetically by state. There is even a script to read if you want to use it.

And remind your representatives that their votes for or against the chained CPI will be remembered in the 2014 elections.

  1. People aren’t paying attention- so many I have talked with say the “news” is so depressing they have stopped listening. A dangerous trend. It’s not just the “cuts” it’s the creative/new math, too.
Wake-up before it’s too late, people

    1. It is depressing. And I have mostly stopped listening too. I’ve realized it really brings me down. But this will be a direct cut to my income! This is important! Those dependent on Social Security need to pay attention!

  2. This reminds me of labor unions that refused to negotiate a reduction in benefits in return for maintaining a economically viable employer. Now we have Government Motors to whom unborn taxpayers share it’s debt as a portion of the $17,000,000,000,000.00 obligation for which we are all on the hook. SS is the only pyramid scheme that’s legal.

    1. If you’re that unhappy with the system, just sign your SS checks over to me. That will help make up my losses if the chained CPI is implemented, and you’ll be able to sleep nights. Hell, I’ll take those nasty checks off your hands even if the chained CPI is voted down. After all, that’s what friends are for. 😉

... and that's my two cents
