The US Department of the Interior thought so much of this photo, they’ve circulated it. On Facebook they call it “One of the most spectacular lightning strikes we have ever seen.” It’s a major lightning strike on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, captured last July by Travis Roe. NBC showed it on Nightly News this evening, just about the time some delicious big thunderstorms were rolling through Denver. I guarantee the lightning didn’t look like this.

Isn’t this amazing? Looks really otherworldy. Rockies have some pretty impressive lightning, too…don’t like to see it while on the trail.

This is our second day of storms and more are promised for tomorrow. It’s upsetting the dog but I’m ready to go out and dance in it.
