WordPress bloggers might not have noticed some changes in their dashboards recently. In the menu on the left side, you’ll now find Comments I’ve Made and Omnisearch.
Comments I’ve Made brings back the listing of one’s own comments made on other blogs, with any subsequent comments. I, for one, am delighted to see it. Gone is the combination of our comments with the Reader. They’ve been separated, as they were before. A much better arrangement.
If you’ve ever wondered where or if you wrote that bit about tiddly winks, you’ll love Omnisearch. It will search all your posts, pages, comments, and feedback. Did you actually write about tiddly winks (or anything else) somewhere, or did you only think about writing about them? Now you’ll know.
Omnisearch; it’s what we’ve all wished for. Now if only WP would make it into a widget so we could put it on our home pages for everyone’s convenience.
I’ll have to try that new Omnisearch thing to see how well it works PT. As for the “Comments I’ve Made” page, it’s been there for quite a while but I don’t use it much because it never seems to go back far enough to cover the exchange I’m looking for. However, I see that page now has a link to a new one called “My Activity” that appears to go back far further. I’ve added that one to my WP bookmark set! 😀
Well, I’m just glad to see the comments back the way they were, I thought their integration into the Reader was awful.
RE: Omnisearch, if you use Chrome, you can always add it as a custom search engine through your Omnibar. Just right click the input field, and select “Add As Search Engine…”
I do like the idea of adding in a widget, but as the results are exclusively on the back-end of the site, it would have to only display for folks who have the privileges to get to it! Potentially a tad bit confusing for some folks, but I’ll tinker a bit and see what I can come up with for a future revision! 🙂

YEA! Sometimes things work.
Now if only we could access those comments directly from the admin bar, like we used to. Such a pain to have to go to the dashboard first. I’ll just add another bookmark/shortcut to my browser toolbar, as I have for my test page, my list of posts, my CSS, and some codes I use a lot but can never remember. So lazy. Why click twice when once is possible?
So that’s what the OmniSearch is. I had not tried it yet. I do like the color scheme change. Easier on the eyes. But my notifications keeps popping up with that orange balloon that something new has happened (a “like”, a comment, etc) when nothing happened. It’s been doing that for a while now, but usually stops after I click on it two or three times. Today it’s been doing that all day.
Hmm, not sure what you mean by notifications, orange balloon, etc. The thing toward the right end of the admin bar? I’d never paid much attention to that. Now that you mention it, though, mine’s orange.
