Did you know Google has a timer function?
I wasn’t aware of it until I stumbled across a video on Business Insider, “5 Awesome Google Features You Didn’t Know About.” All you have to do is type into the search bar “Timer x hours y minutes” (or just minutes) and enter. Google will start a countdown and sound an alarm when time is up. Make sure your sound is on and don’t close the tab.
So easy! And all these years I’ve been struggling with various little apps that would do pop-up reminders, etc., to remind me to take a break, start the laundry, move the hose, take a pill, etc.
If you don’t want to watch the entire video (personally I’d rather read an article than watch a video), the other features are a Lego building thingy (“buildwithchrome.com”); a number speaker that will tell you how to say a long number (eg, “123,459,234,324=english”); a feature called Google Sky (“google.com/sky”) that is a bit like Google street maps for space; and a font finder (“google.com/fonts”).
Cool! I did not know that (even though my tab is Android … I do love the voice feature). Gonna have to start monkeying around with this thing more …
I can think of all kinds of reasons and ways to use it, since I’m at this keyboard so much.
Yes I did know and have been using it for quite a while; I find it very handy when I’m cooking and working away on the computer I’m inclined to forget whats in the oven. Now I don’t I just set the timer and it tells me to getup and go check on the cake. roast or pie. Beautiful! 🙂
Yes, I thought about cooking, too, since my kitchen is right around the corner from the living room.
I forgot to mention I have the icon in my taskbar so it’s ready waiting for instructions;Easy ! 🙂
I probably won’t do that. It’s easy enough to type it into the search/URL bar. Besides, my taskbar is just about full as it is.
