    1. Yes, but when I see kids like this, it raises my hope that it can still be a good future. Because there too many days when the future looks pretty bleak.

      1. I admit I was a little taken aback when the man said to “caress” her. Sounded too intimate. Might be a matter of translation (I don’t speak French), or perhaps a less intimate connotation in French. It does seem to me the French are much more touchy-feely-kissy than I am.

        1. Perhaps that was the point. The girl was presented as an object because that’s the way a lot of men view women. And it’s wrong. These young men knew that.

  1. The children are charming, but the exercise is a little creepy. I was reminded of the famous Milgram psychology experiment in which an authority figure is able to convince many test subjects to perform acts that would otherwise run counter to their conscience.

Child interviews are a little like athlete interviews. There’s little originality, but that’s not the interviewee’s fault – it’s a snapshot of thoughts without meaningful preparation. I find that in itself psychologically interesting.

Mollie says I overanalyze. She’s right.

    1. Well, you certainly analyzed it more than I did. I didn’t take it as any sort of carefully thought out psychological experiment. I took it as something more along the lines of a reporter walking a bunch of kids through a simple exercise just to record their reactions. Typical fluff / filler / human interest stuff.
