WordPress gremlins at work again

  1. Hi PT– my WP experience is nil, but thinking i am crazy– it is snowing here on your blog. Nowhere else, including real life! Is it supposed to do that??? (flurries; so far no accumulation….)

    1. Yep, it’s snowing. The snow is something WP makes available every year from about Dec. 1 to Jan. 4. Bloggers can choose to turn it on or off. In the past, if you stayed on one page long enough, it accumulated at the bottom of the screen. Hard to tell on this white page. And it falls toward your cursor. Or used to. Today it looks like it’s angling away from my cursor.

  2. I’ve missed a few too. Bloody infuriating. Other bloggers are reporting problems with their themes going haywire. I hope my readers – and yours – are generous spirited and know any blip is unintentional 🙂

    1. I would say it makes me feel better to know I’m not alone, but it doesn’t. I hate how WP always tries to sound like it’s the blogger’s fault when something messes up, even though the blogger knows full well he or she hasn’t changed a single setting. And WP knows full well it’s probably something they’ve done or are doing, but they’ll never admit it. Anyway, I how the situation gets corrected soon. Sorry to hear it’s happening to someone else.

  3. I always suspect that WP has been tinkering with something behind the scenes and is not telling us. And it often means they’re soon going to surprise us with something wonderful, new, and “improved.”

WordPress.COM is just a big beta test site for the WordPress.ORG software for many of the changes – WP is quite proud of the number of changes they roll out everyday – but they never mention testing – sort of roll it out and check the help forum (maybe) in a few hours

    Welcome to WordPress.COM!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. I’ve been blogging here for more than seven years, so you can imagine how tired I am of all the WP shenanigans. But it’s different this time. They aren’t just messing with me and my blog and how I get something published. They are messing with my relationship with my readers, and that’s infuriating!

    1. Uh oh, the gremlins got you. Or us. I just saw this comment, and it has yet to show up in any of my notification lists or email. However, your comments should post right away when you click “Post Comment.” If they don’t, then we have more gremlins at work than I thought.

      WP, are you listening?

    1. Don’t know and don’t really care. I just hope whatever they do works properly. I’m used to being a beta tester. But making us alpha testers is just laziness on their part.

    1. I hope so. I’ve done all I know to do. Oddly enough, replies to my comments on other blogs are showing up in my notifications as they should, but not new comments on my two blogs. Or the Likes either.

        1. I’ve got it on my phone but don’t use it. One simply cannot blog on a phone, IMHO. It’s easier to just look for new comments in the comment list (via left side drop down menu under My Sites). All comments are listed there, but I don’t get any notifications.

        2. lol, I agree, I never blog from my phone–If it’s more than a few words I’m just too slow–but the little alert when a new comment is posted is helpful–otherwise I’m relying on remembering to log back in and check. bad, bad Mrs Fringe 😉
