Well, the Republican Poobahs have gotten their come upance… now it’s time for the Democrats, but their Poobahs are much more likely to prevail.
As far as I’m concerned, the Supreme Court gave it to the poobahs (Dem and GOP alike) with their Citizens United ruling in 2010.
Can’t argue with that.
Poobah’s is anew one on me, but I suppose from the cartoon it has something to do with the poor downtrodden plebs then again going by the comments it’s quite the opposite 😕
Poobahs are the high and mighty, the bigwigs, the super rich who run everything.

In other words, an anointed by the elite, self important blow hard.
Guess that means Trump is not a Poo, but he is a Bah?
If Trump were either one the Republican Poobahs wouldn’t be in such a tizzy trying to discredit him.
Trump is hated by the establishment Republicans… the Party Poobahs, that is, not the disgruntled primary voters. The Republican Poobahs ought to realize that they’re saying the primary voters are dimwitted, naive, political adolescents. I’m not a Republican, nor am I a Trump fan, but if I were, the party Poobahs would be the ones I’d vote against. Not so much against that I’d vote for Hillary or Bernie though. I’d have to be insane to go in that direction.

What I find remarkable about the political party system is how misunderstood it is. A political party is less like democracy (small “d”) than it is an Elks Club. The Poobahs have meetings, sample opinions, make speeches, and then meet behind closed doors to decide how to proceed. Anyone can start a political party. Ask Lyndon LaRouche, George Wallace or Ross Perot. It’s just getting enough people in it to matter that stops most of them, but by the time you do get a bunch it’s often hard to tell what it stands for. Hell of a system, what?

You are absolutely right Jim. Our political system is grossly misunderstood and very complicated at best. We have open and closed primaries,caucases,delegates both bound and unbound,super delegates,a mathmaticle formula for winning and counting how the delagates are divided in each StateAND for each politicle Party. We openly discriminate against anyone who is not a Registered Democrat or a Republican, We also have the Electoral College and The Supreme Court just to spice things up.Each State is free to run their election process along these very broad guide lines.It’s a wonder we get anyone in office who is neither bought or sold!
And it even exists in the Libertarian Party… Remember when it championed Bob Barr? One of the few times I couldn’t bring myself to vote for a Libertarian Party candidate.
Not sure I remember Barr, but it figures that you won’t always like the candidate your party nominates. Just ask the Republicans right now …
