Sounds of silence, sounds of extinction

    1. When I bought this house, there were no trees around it and therefore no birds in the yard. Several years after I got some trees in, they were close enough for me to hear every day. I hadn’t realized how much I’d missed them.

And when I mentioned getting away to the peace and quiet of the country, I meant away from city noises so that I could hear the birds, the wind in the trees, the rushing streams, the scolding of pikas, squirrels, and marmots, the bugling of elk, etc. I am, probably too easily, annoyed by people on the trails who shout and scream and carry on in such a way as to make it impossible to hear anything else. Why do they bother being there if not to enjoy what nature has to offer?

... and that's my two cents
