Thank you …
… for all you’ve done and all you’ve tried to do to make this a better country for everyone.
… for being a man and a president we could be proud of even if we disagreed with you.
… and for always conducting yourself with the dignity and grace befitting the office of president.
You will be missed.
I miss him so much already. I consider myself fortunate to have been here during his presidency. Oh, where was Sasha?
Yes, I did a bit of blubbering this evening. The contrast between him and what’s coming is extremely painful.
I didn’t hear anything about Sasha, but maybe one of the other channels mentioned it. Odd that she wasn’t there. Hope she’s not sick.
Yes, quite the contrast. Like day and night except this night has no moon and is deep down in the dwarves’ tunnels where even they do not go.
I was very emotional during his speech. He is such a great communicator. I think he will be staying involved, in some way. Loved it when Seth Myers said we were ‘losing our Dad’!
Seth doesn’t come on here until 11:30, but I like to catch his political comedy/commentary. Don’t get much of that since Jon Stewart moved on. Listening to someone make fun of politicians makes me feel a little better, since it’s a laugh-to-keep-from-crying situation.
i cried through the entire thing.
I did too. Half for the fact that he and MIchelle and the girls and Joe Biden are leaving, and half from knowing who/what is replacing them.
Goodbye to dignity and maturity, hello to petulance and grandiosity.
I can hardly bear the thought of Donald Trump in the White House, and it has nothing to do with his politics.
He will be missed, greatly, world wide I do believe. He is more liked, and respected, by the rest of the worlds so-called civilized peoples, than many of his own.
In time, and with not too much of it passing, he will become more appreciated for what he did and what he tried to do. Just sorry I’ll not be around to say “told you so” to some of my American acquaintances; that’s the lot that leant the wrong way! 👿
He is a good man and an honest politician, which is saying much!
He will be well remembered.
Quite simply, he’s been a class act. Both he and his family. And I appreciate that as never before.
And by the way, his successor epitomizes the saying, “You can’t buy class.”
I’m not even American yet I was really touched. He seemed like a wonderful person that truly cares about his country. Lucky you’ve had him as president for the past 8 years!
Thank you. Yes, I believe he does care deeply about what happens to this country, and it showed during his speech.
I truly resonate with your views. I am not an American but nevertheless I am so massively respectful of him.I admire him for all the reasons you mentioned and beyond. My maiden post on WordPress was an ode to the President.I always be mighty proud of him!
He made many of us proud.
He was my hero: I was as devoted to Obama as any “outlander” could be.
He was a man to admire and love.
A veritable saint compared to what we endured from 2017 to 2021.
