Another Word of the Year: ‘feminism’

  1. I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an’ pretend
‘Cause I’ve heard it all before
And I’ve been down there on the floor
No one’s ever gonna keep me down again
    Oh yes, I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
    Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
    I am strong
    I am invincible
    I am woman

    1. One of my all-time favorite songs. When Helen Reddy released it in 1971, she instantly became my idol. I went around the house singing it at the top of my lungs (and in the car, too). To me it sounded like a triumphant marching song. Little did I realize how much farther women still had to go.

  2. Helen Reddy is an Australian, both she and her eldest sister, Toni Lamond were good singers, I don’t think Toni was known overseas.

They were daughters of vaudevillian parents.

Toni is 10 years older and still alive and kicking at age 85 and is an Australian living legend.

Helen is back home in Australia living in retirement somewhere in Sydney 😀

Shame y’all missed out on Toni, she didn’t have Helen distinctive voice but she was a great trouper.

... and that's my two cents
