There was an opinion piece in the Washington Post yesterday entitled “Vote against all Republicans. Every single one.” Author Max Boot began by quoting Joe Biden:
“I am sick and tired of this administration. I’m sick and tired of what’s going on. I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired, and I hope you are, too.”
Boot urges readers to vote against every single Republican — and that’s exactly what I did about 10 days ago on my mail-in ballot.
I’ve never voted a straight-party ticket before, even when I belonged to one of the major parties (I’m unaffiliated now). But this time I did. Straight Democrat, all down the line, regardless of the candidate.
That violates my long-held belief that one should vote the candidate, not the party, because there are good and bad candidates in every party.
But my thinking was this: Every one of those GOP politicians in Washington began as just a local nobody in their hometown way back when. So I decided to start at the source, with the local races and candidates I’d barely heard of. Perhaps if they can’t win as Republicans, they’ll reconsider their political futures. In any case, I thought, I’ll try to stop the madness at its source, or at least send a message all up and down the line.
I even spent a few hours researching all the judges hoping to be reconfirmed. Their parties aren’t listed on the ballot, but given the Kavanaugh fiasco in Washington, I decided I would not approve any Republican judges. If I could not determine their party affiliation, I went by the party of the governor who appointed them.
So there you have it. My reasons for voting straight Democrat. I’m not particularly proud of it and many of you may disagree, but I’m angry. Fed up. Deeply concerned for my country, my planet, and the future.
And like Biden and Boot, I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.
I agree. I’m voting straight blue as well. Tired of seeing our country be destroyed by trump and his cult of fools.
I don’t know which has been worse, Trump himself or the sycophants who obey, support, defend, enable, and emulate him — or simply remain silent when they should be speaking out against him. It has to stop.
I notice Mary and I are in accord with our spelling, perhaps PT you should learn that the correct way to spell trump, is with the small/lower case ‘T’
I thought it sufficient to not dignify him with a title.
Well now he’s saying it’s ok to shoot these migrants on the way if they throw rocks or bottles. This evil man is insane and his cult are complicit in their evilness.
And now that he’s said it, I wouldn’t be surprised if somebody does.
I vote straight Democrat. Been one all my voting life. When I was young, I wasn’t opposed to voting for a Republican if I thought they were a good candidate, but not now. The party runs the electors. Doesn’t matter what they believe or want anymore, it’s what the GOP tells them – and I’m vehemently opposed to most of the GOP’s views.
I was a Republican most of my life. Switched to Dems in 2000. Registered as unaffiliated in 2006 and have never looked back.
Voices crying in the wilderness methinks 🙁
Not holding my breath but am crossing my fingers.
The need for one party voting this time may just be a wise approach, then can pull out any weeds the next time around.
True. Right now I can’t see beyond tomorrow. But I imagine 2020 will be in the headlines by the end of the week.

I agree. But at least the message was sent. (And it did make a difference in Colorado, a purple state where all statewide offices went blue).
All we have to do now is wait and see what difference it will make. My guess is none, or almost none.
What I’m waiting to see is Mueller’s report. And I’m hoping the Dems can get some of the financial info from Trump that he’s been hiding.
