It was ten years ago today — January 15, 2009 — that Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger safely ditched his US Airways Airbus A320 in the Hudson River after striking a flock of geese while taking off from New York City. All 155 people on board survived, thanks to Capt. Sullenberger’s cool head and excellent flying skills. To this day he continues to demonstrate his wisdom and humility, and he’ll always be one of my heroes.

How time flies.
Pity about that A320 though
They fished it out of the river later, for all the good that did.
well it would have had about 7000 US gallons (as opposed to Imperial gallons) of fuel which would eventually have leaked out into the East River and caused who can imagine how much destruction.
So I’d say it probably did a lot of good.
Good point. They’d just taken off. Tanks were full.
I think of these things.
Sometimes 😈
The movie was great, too! But I can’t believe it was ten years ago!
That’s the movie industry, Doesn’t take them long to cash in. I hope they gave the real Captain “Sully’ top billing and paid him accordingly.
Tom Hanks played Sully, and very well, I thought. I only saw it recently, when it was on tv.
I think Tom Hanks is an honorable man. I like him.
I like him too and thought he was the perfect choice for the role.
A man of innate class; there are not many of us left.
😉
I’d have guessed no more than five.
