How on earth can Republicans continue to tolerate this psychopath? George Will, in his column this morning, implied that the persistence of the partisan divide may be due to humanity’s evolution in small tribes. The author he quotes thinks that tribalism is so strong in our genes that it is incompatible with rationality on a national or even large-city scale. Depressing is what it is because I think he might be right.
If he’s right, the future looks mighty gloomy. Until Trump, I had thought humanity was evolving from small tribes to a larger society. But since his election, we’ve been regressing.
George Will is rarely wrong.
I know. And this time the evidence is all around us. So depressing.
