spot on
I’m surprised I’d never seen it before today.
Bingo! A real winner!
Somehow I bet there’s an identical one that substitutes “elitism” for “anti-intellectualism”? (Reading about Russia, Catherine the Great, and the major players and philosophers of Enlightenment era …quite interesting – and oddly relevant still)
I’ve heard all my life that “there is nothing new under the sun” and also that “history repeats itself.” Sad, isn’t it, that we keep repeating the mistakes history warns us about. Maybe it’s because of that anti-intellectualism Asimov references.
Asimov is near the very top of my all-time favorite authors.
While anti-intellectualism has been ubiquitous, the internet and social media have intensified it enormously. Let’s hope it doesn’t spell the end of representative democracy.
I’m hoping as hard as I can.
We all know the saying, “Ignorance is bliss.” Well, I’ve tagged on to that the following “… unless your ignorance interferes with my bliss.” Which right wing ignorance does.
Yep, I too draw the line at interfering with my rights. And while I might sometimes forgive ignorance (which can be remedied), I cannot abide willful ignorance.
Exactly.
