No politics here. No pandemic. No unpaid bills, missed deliveries, doctor appointments, tax returns, or whatever. Just the exquisite photography of Estes Park’s own Erik Stensland reminding us that there is still peace and beauty in the world.
This particular ponderosa pine resides in Beaver Meadows, Rocky Mountain National Park, just down the road from Estes Park. Stensland explained that he’d had his eye on it for a while and was just waiting for the perfect snowstorm to photograph it.
As you may have heard, however, “everyone’s a critic.” My only tiny quibble with this photo is a bit too much white space at the top. Strictly IMHO. On the other hand, when a tree is reaching for the sky, you need to give it room.

Very impressive photo’s, timing is everything. Nice to see some unspoilt wilderness from over the pond. Too much brick and concrete around us here in the UK. We have to travel a good distance to see scenery from horizon to horizon.
I treasure what a song called “the great wide open” in the western US and feel suffocated if it’s not available within a few miles.
The white space may be about balance with a vertical image? Hard to tell without seeing the picture /size in person.

I’m sure Stensland had a very good reason for framing that tree exactly as he did. I love the photo, and that’s enough for me.
