I confess. I let yesterday slip by without mentioning 1973’s historic Roe v. Wade decision. For some reason I was thinking the anniversary date was today, despite yesterday being circled on my calendar. I even heard about the protest march in Washington and thought vaguely that it was probably a day early because Saturday worked better for most people.
So I’m getting old and inattentive. But I’m here now, just to state again for the record, I am unalterably, unshakeably, determinedly pro-choice when it comes to abortion. My reasons have been clearly stated many times.
Let me repeat: Pro-choice, not pro-abortion.

It’s a terrible time here in Texas. I’m being forced to vote for socialistic Democrats because libertarians cannot win and the only other choice is moronic, hateful, lying, self absorbed, egotistical, narcissistic, incompetent Republicans. Oh yeah, I forgot dictatorial bastards.
I thought it was a point of pride with you to vote for libertarians or other third-party candidates whether or not they had a chance of winning. But I’ll admit it’s tough to find moderate middle ground these days.

I used to think there were a lot of decent Republicans fairly close to moderate mainstream thinking, who, along with moderate Dems, might have been able to form a viable third party for those of us somewhere in the middle. But I’ve pretty much given up on that idea.

Yep. Even though I’m registered Unaffiliated, that’s the way I vote. I can’t imagine voting for a Republican right now. There might be some decent ones left, but there’s no excuse for any of them to countenance their current leadership.
johnthecook…I am a RAM Fan, GO RAMS! The Pro-choice option has cost the lives of over SIXTY MILLION babies in the womb! I dare say the majority were out of convenience as opposed to medical reasons. This is not a rant, just a moot point.
If you are so concerned about what total strangers and their doctors are doing, how ’bout you sign a contract with one of those women, saying you’ll cover all their medical expenses up to and through childbirth, after which you’ll adopt, raise, and educate the unwanted child. That’s not a rant. That’s called putting your money where your mouth is.

johnthecook…thanks for the reply. Now the Rams have to get past the 49ers. Major test # 2, then Superbowl bound. Who had the greatest challenge, the 49ers vs the Packers or the Rams vs Tampa Bay? I saw both games and playing in ZERO degree weather plus snow was way harder than playing under a BIG Canopy and a slightly cool Southern California evening. Would I sign the contract before or after the fun and games? I would be an idiot to do so. Pleasure is not cheap, and most of the time making babies involves a whole lot of pleasure. If you’re going to play the tune, the piper is going to get paid one way or the other. The problem here is most people don’t think of unintended consequences, like having to pay. That is called responsibility.
I hadn’t been following the playoffs but I happened to turn on the Rams game in the middle of the last quarter. I stopped to cheer for the Rams because I always want to see Brady beaten. What a finish!
As for the contract, no fun and games for you. The payoff for you is getting to stop an abortion — after which you must be responsible for the unwanted child (that wouldn’t have been born otherwise). If you stop the abortions, you should be responsible for the results.

Absolutely. It’s nobody else’s business. The Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution provides a fundamental “right to privacy” that protects a pregnant woman’s liberty to choose whether to have an abortion. It was true in 1973 and it is true today.
