Yep, I’m at it again. If webcams bore you, feel free to move along. But I happen to enjoy them — especially when they are live streaming with sound, as both of these are. So make sure your speakers are on.
In Hawaii, Kilauea Volcano is erupting again and the US Geological Survey (USGS) has a live streaming webcam at Kilauea’s Halemaʻumaʻu crater on the Big Island. When I checked it out, there were more than 900 people watching and an active chat channel was scrolling on one side. (You’ll have to go to YouTube to see the chat.) This one loads slowly for me, so be patient.

And of course, this time of year, there’s always the bear cam at Alaska’s Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park. Currently it is streaming highlights and there are a lot of youngsters to watch along with the adults. Gulls are busy picking up scraps, and a night camera even caught a coyote (possibly a wolf, but I’m a city girl so what do I know).
That mama bear teaching junior is priceless!
I love that one too. I can almost “hear” the conversation …
Now, Colorado .. I see a lot of very patient bears, but I do not see any old salmon throwing themselves into the bears’ waiting jaws. How do you explain this lack ?! [grin]
