I grabbed this screenshot tonight from the Indian Peaks webcam in Nederland. It looked familiar, and sure enough, back before I lost track of the camera, I posted a different purple-sky evening from the same camera. Or this camera’s predecessor. Not being in Nederland, I’ve no way of knowing if the sky really looks purple from there, or if this particular camera’s technology creates the color. Not that it matters. I like the result.
I just checked the camera again and grabbed the image below. Not purple, but still lovely.

I was going to guess the purple came just as the camera was losing light and switching to night view … except the bottom shot was taken after the purple one.
Nederland is 42 miles northwest of me, in the mountains. Not likely I’ll ever be there at this hour to see for myself.
The purple shot was grabbed at 7:22 pm. Maybe it will happen again …
Definitely a good cam! Gorgeous lavender sky and the other capture with the orangey burst at bottom left ain’t too shabby, either!
I think it’s my favorite of all the ones I’ve found.
And just as I wrote that, I find I can’t access the camera! 🙁
