Update, July 3, 2013: This is a retraction of yesterday’s post. I’m am happy to say I was mistaken when I wrote it. Per the comment below from Pingdom project manager Morgan Sundqvist, it’s clear the free Pingdom tools I’ve enjoyed in the past are still free and will remain so. And Pingdom does still offer free accounts. My heartfelt apology to the folks at Pingdom. Theirs is a great service that all bloggers should use on a regular basis.
I think http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ is the tool you talk about. This is still free and will always be free. Pingdom still has a free account https://www.pingdom.com/free/ . Pingdom has always charged for accounts that have more checks and features. For full disclosure I work at Pingdom as a project manager for DevOps.
