  1. Years ago, before I retired, I was on a business trip with a colleague. Although it was a week night we were both surprised that we had to wait a half hour to be seated. Neither of us had thought about it being Valentine’s day. My friend had an excuse, he was single. I didn’t. It doesn’t hurt to be reminded once a year that there is more to life than just making a living.

    1. Oh it doesn’t hurt a bit if you have a special someone in your life. Well, maybe a little gift of some kind. The world could use more romance and I envy those who have it in their lives.

  2. Grumpy remains the BEST! Hershey 🐈‍⬛ agrees and thanks you, too. Most restaurants up here have Special dinner menus today; lots of tourists here to enjoy them. Me? Have my taxes appointment today, so day off for that. Better than chocolate, albeit more expensive 😊

    1. Yep, Grumpy’s my buddy on this day every year.
Beautiful day for the tourists to be up there. And kudos for tending to your taxes. I’ve been dragging my feet (way too much!) on gathering all my paperwork. Just seems like one thing too many for this week’s schedule.

        1. I was mostly making a joke, since I’m on Medicare too, with a medigap policy. I’ve always had good healthcare and coverage and am very grateful for both. So many people aren’t as lucky as I’ve been.

          1. You are so right! One of my drugs is very expensive (like, thousands of dollars a month), and some other patients are desperate to find ways to cover the cost. My cost is very low because of medicare.

          1. I have heard of other people using it. I’m going through the Kaiser national specialty pharmacy in San Francisco for my meds; they apply everything they can and I’m paying nominal fees. They literally overnight FedEx ship them to me. Here’s the thing that makes me cranky. My meds are expensive. As in, one month costs $16,000. Because congress blocked legislation that would allow Medicare to negotiate lower prices, we as taxpayers are paying full price (while I only pay about $65 a month). That is just crazy!! You can see why people without the insurance coverage that I have are scrambling..

          1. Exactly! Using drug plans and by enrolling in special programs most people get there, but not all. I’ve checked and the costs are lower at places like Safeway (because they negotiate for bulk buying prices), but it is still thousands of dollars. Here’s the quote for one of the drugs that I pulled from an online source: “The cost for Ofev oral capsule 100 mg is around $13,695 for a supply of 60 capsules, depending on the pharmacy you visit.” You take two a day, so that is the cost for a month. I stopped this drug because of side effects, but I saw a doctor last week and she’s pretty concerned that I stopped. Depending on the next round of testing I may have to go back on… I think that the US should be able to negotiate just like Safeway to get lower prices, don’t you>
