Anyone seen the news?

Well, now we know (as if we didn’t already) how serious our TV networks are about hard news. I assume newsworthy things are still happening in Iran and the rest of the world, but yesterday all I heard about was Mark Sanford’s affair. Now today, the death of a second rate movie star, Farrah Fawcett grabs the headlines, followed by the surprising but still relatively unimportant death of Michael Jackson.

Have these so-called journalists and their so-called news media totally forgotten the meaning of the word perspective? How ’bout priorities?

There used to be a difference between news and tabloids, journalists and paparazzi, the world at large and Hollywood, CNN and TMZ.
