January 2 was chosen as World Introvert Day because it marks the end of the busy holiday season. Whew! Finally!
For me it’s like the sun coming out after two months of cloudiness. It’s being able to relax after two months of stress, being able to exhale after two months of holding my breath. For the most part I don’t like the social pressures and expectations of the holidays (which, unfortunately, seem to begin earlier every year).
So yes, today is World Introvert Day and I’m celebrating. By myself, of course. Quietly.

“Quiet people have the loudest minds.”
— Stephen Hawking

My problem is that I have the bottom three introvert characteristics and the top three extrovert ones.
Go figure ..
I imagine most people are a mix, or it varies with the situation.
I’m a mix as well
As I understand it, that would make you an ambivert, somewhere along the spectrum from one end to the other. I’m just much closer to the introvert end.
I think so, and some people that I know don’t believe I’m an introvert but when I explain it They understand
Based on your checklist, I’m an introvert too.
There are a million tests and checklists out there. This one just happened to be a simple graphic. I think most people know if they are introverts or extroverts, even if they’ve never put a label on it.
Yes, so glad the holidays are gone. Like you, I take a deep breath and settle back into quiet and solitude.
Now if only the “holidays” would stop expanding to include all of November and now a good chunk of October.
ummm … should this be announced publicly? 🙂
I guess it depends on your definition of “publicly.”
This explains why my favorite time of day is between 4-7am, even during the “big dark” time of year. Introverts unite! (remotely of course…)
I am, quite unwillingly, becoming more familiar with those hours. I don’t seek them out on purpose, but they do have a certain appeal. If only I had a good view of the eastern sky …
I consider myself somewhere in between introvert and extrovert. I can really enjoy solitude, but there are days when I need to be around people. I can’t fully subscribe either way.
I imagine you are typical of most people. It depends a lot on the situation — some we want to avoid, some we enjoy.
