Oh don’t worry. I didn’t take it that way at all. I just think all that blogging shows me that I spend way too much time at my keyboard and should find a better use of my time.
If you enjoy it, then that’s what matters and it’s not a waste of time.
2002! I started my journey in 2012, quit, restarted and quit again. I lamenting that I should have kept going, even if the blog evolved into something else. I had quite the audience back then.
WordPress didn’t even exist in 2002. I think it was about 2007 when I moved everything over here. And most definitely this blog has evolved in one way or another. Of course it would, since we ourselves evolve. Our interests change, our ideas and positions evolve. (And against common wisdom, I never intended to stick to just one topic.) Change, after all, really is the only constant in life.
There is no “better use” of your time, Colorado: your life should be spent enjoying everything you do. If you hang a chain spelling “I must only do what others call meaningful” around your neck you’re giving in to finger-waggers – those who think they know best.

Aw, thanks. 🤗 I do enjoy writing, designing, generally messin’ around. But oh my, how much more complicated WordPress has become over the years. It keeps changing (“improving”) and getting much more complex. (Admittedly my getting older probably hasn’t helped, either.)
Once upon a blogging time, I actually and actively enjoyed using my blog.
No more. There’s no fun to be had, just selecting ‘Classic Editor’ and plugging away.
Definitely an example of change for change’s sake. 🙁
The innumerable changes obviously have been geared toward their professional users. Things have become far too complex, I imagine, for anyone just starting out. I would urge any beginner to find another platform. But then, blogging itself may have become passé. I don’t know what the younger generations are doing.
Sounds like you’re almost as addicted as I am. I don’t remember Red Room, but anymore I don’t remember a lot of things. And of course, once I got started on WordPress I stopped looking around for other platforms.

I began my blog here in 2014 (this week) after Red Room closed. I had been blogging there since 2009. ~Nan
