In the last few days I’ve encountered a problem when replying to your comments. When I click “enter” my comment disappears and is replaced by a message saying “Submitting comment… ” If I wait, nothing happens. If I refresh the page, my comment appears. A blue “X” apparently cancels/deletes the comment. Have any of you encountered this situation?
(P.S. The “Submitting comment … ” is in black type so barely visible unless you look for it.)
I’m sorry I caan’t help, but it does sound srrange. Perhaps WordPress are tinkering about with things again.
So annoying! If WP would just stop “improving” things … ugh.
I have noticed a delay in comments being posted in the last several weeks (just as you described except for the X; I don’t recall that). Because of that pause, I often post the same or similarly expressed comment. ~Nan
I had the advantage of being able to go in and delete my duplicate comments. It was a few days before I realized what was happening.
Well, none of my comments ever appears !!!
Maybe it’s happening to you. You click “post” and nothing happens and you leave. Do you ever look back to see if it appeared after you “posted” and left?
Sometimes if it says submitted comment it means the writer of the blog has to approve the answer, set up by them when they have a lot of spam and want o monitor it. But if it’s happening in lots of blogs you’re trying to write on then it is a WP issue which there is no explanation for
Now that you mention it, I think it’s only happening to me when I try to reply here on my own blog. That’s one reason why I wondered if it was happening to everyone who tries to post a comment on Pied Type.

WordPress helping again. Yes, it’s happened to me once in awhile. Likely a server problem with your service provider. Some times I copy my reply into the clipboard before submitting just incase something weird happens. Likely, there’s not much you can do about it but complain to WP.
Yes, I try to remember to copy my comments before posting. I’ve had some very long, thoughtful comments just disappear when I clicked reply. Really discouraging.
For a long time now I’ve had a comment on one of your posts disappear. Sometimes I check on it and it finally appears, other times not. Not helpful, I know. Let’s see how this one does.
My last comment disappeared on pressing “enter”, but refreshing page made it appear. I don’t have this problem on other sites, so the problem may be somewhere in “WP settings.”
I didn’t have to refresh that time. Intermittent problems are the worst.
I’ve sent a query about this to WP support. Maybe they can help.
