By now you’ve probably heard there was a debate Tuesday night between Presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. That’s all the media was discussing yesterday, and they generally seemed to think that Harris set traps for Trump and he fell into every one of them. People seemed delirious that Kamala had taken Trump to the cleaners, that she got all the positives and he got all the negatives. I won’t rehash what you’ve already seen, read, and heard. Harris is smart and can set traps. Trump is an egotistical bully who falls into them.
But mostly I was just bored. I’ve a habit of tuning out Trump — to the point that anything near him gets tuned out too. I was sort of watching more than listening, if that makes any sense. Trump was so ridiculous and wrong that I just faded out on him. And as a result I was pretty faded on Harris too. Yes, I thought Harris won, but to me it wasn’t the big whoop the press seemed to think it was. I’m just happy to know we have a competent Not-Trump to vote for.
But now that we have that, we must be sure to vote into office a Dem Senate and House to support her. A President can’t do much without Congress presenting the bills for her to sign. Don’t forget that. Those down-ballot votes are important!
Besides Dictator Wannabe Trump, there’s Project 2025 waiting to be put into action. So there are some compelling reasons for every eligible American to vote in November (for me it’s abortion, abortion, and abortion).
But I meant to keep this short. You saw or heard about the debate. Vote for the person who will save the country, and give her a House and Senate that will make that possible.

johnthecook…You as a Well documented journalist, do you believe that either candidate would meet the criteria of a qualified “Debater” on a recognized debate team? Most of the time it was he said, she said. They did nothing but rehash the Liberal 6 O’clock News. Pathetic!
It’s been acknowledged for years that these joint appearances do not in any way constitute formal debates. I don’t know if the candidates (or the moderators, for that matter) have any idea about what constitutes a real debate. Seems to me these televised events are more about creating images for the voters. For vetted facts, I check reliable news sources.

Thank you for making a very important point. I have been “hair on fire” frightened by what is coming out of the right, and it is so important that we have in place lawmakers at the state, local, and federal levels to implement policies that serve the good of all the people in our nation.
I will say that one of the things that I got from the debate is the absolute detachment from verifiable facts on the part of Trump. He said things where I was thinking… is that number accurate?… whipped out my phone, and within seconds found that the number was wildly wrong. In other words, the arguments and “facts” being used to support them were fabrications designed to frighten people and serve his narrative. I was also shocked that he is relying on things that he “read about” or “saw on tv”. I have sat through many, many job interviews asking questions of candidates. If something like that came up in the interview, it would have immediately disqualifying. Inventing “facts” to fit a narrative while accepting antidotal accounts as truth, and then taking action based on both of these, is frightening and absolutely disqualifying.
While there has been a lot of attention on the “they’re eating the cats”, I was absolutely shocked when he said that he had read that “she put out… and… I’ll say that” out loud in a nationally televised format. He had written something like that on his platform, so it must have been planned. This man cannot enter office when he is contemptuous of half of the citizens of the nation.

Knitter, you are right on. The most frightening thing to me about DJT is his open disrespect for the Constitution. I swore an oath to preserve, protect and defend that document for 22 years of my life in the USN.
I agree. He is open about requiring loyalty oaths to HIM instead of to the constitution and has called people who took action to block him as “traitors”. Just this week he threatened to withhold federal aid for wildfires from California if they refuse to support an initiative that he wants. This is completely unacceptable, and disqualifying. He cannot be allowed to enter office/power again.
I thank you for your service! I also once took an oath to uphold the constitution and I took that oath seriously. Trump also took an oath when he entered office and it is clear that to him it was meaningless.
That man wouldn’t honor an oath if he read it straight from Project 2025. His only fealty is to himself.

But so much of what he said was so outrageous, ridiculous, unhinged that I was struggling to stay focused. I’ve been turning him off, figuratively and literally, for so long …
Let’s hope more than “half of the citizens of the nation” took offense and vote accordingly. Trump has long been a misogynistic malignant narcissist. Add to that his advancing age and Project 2025 and you have our worst nightmare.
It is our worst nightmare. His age and mental state alarms me, and if he is removed from office via the 25th Amendment, then we will have Vance and Project 2025 will be fully deployed.
Yep, he’s getting worse by the day. And that’s hard to do considering he was nuts to begin with.
