Invincible summer

  1. I needed to know about this today big time! Thank you so much!! (I was hit by a driver who ran a red light, my car is probably totaled, and boy did I need an uplifting quote and a dose of sunshine for the day!)

    1. OMG, Marilyn, are you okay? That’s a stupid reflexive question, I know. You’re obviously still with us but you sure didn’t need that. Good thing you’ve got two cats with all those extra lives floating around.

      1. I have bruises and a couple of cracked ribs, but all in all, I was pretty lucky. The car hit about a foot and a half behind the driver’s seat, the air bags deployed, and I was immediately inundated with help. I’m pretty sad about the car being gone (the police told me it almost certainly will be totaled), and this is pretty darn inconvenient!! I did not want to be buying a new car right now, but as one of the neighbors said, you need to hurry before the tariffs kick in. I do have to say that the Subaru Forester did a great job protecting me!

        1. “Darn inconvenient.” Talk about casual! Hit on the driver’s side. Car totaled. Cracked ribs. Great sales pitch for the Forester, though (that happens to be what I drive, too). No, buying a new car at this point is not in our plans, but that tariff thing could be a problem — if it comes to pass. Perhaps a good used Forester? I dunno, I’ve never bought a used car, but I’m sure sold on Subarus. They always get great safety ratings (even my old 2011 model).

          1. It really is a race now because of the tariffs. I’m torn about a new car and the payment, but I also have a check for Stumpy coming and I have savings. It’s important that I have as safe a car as I can afford and that it is very reliable, so I plan to go back to the Subaru dealership to see what they can do for me.

        2. Safety and reliability are always at the top of my list, too. It’s a lousy predicament to be in, but at least you already know what brand you want. Now stop typing!

    2. Jesus christ, Marilyn !!!! Where is the post about this hideous happening ???
How come you with the … ahh .. plurality of health problems turn out to be the one some cretin runs into ?! – that is VERY not fair. 🙁

      1. I have been a little reluctant to post because… broken ribs hurt when you type. Also, I’ve been sad, but I’m starting to come out of it now. It was bad luck, but on the other hand, I was lucky in how many people responded at the scene to help me. The trip to the ER was a little hilarious as the trauma doc didn’t quite know what to make of my test results (the lung scan really got her attention… “you have a lot of interesting structures in your lungs” is the way she put it). Still, the whole thing was quite the day, and I’m working myself up to posting.

        1. Silly woman. If it hurts to type, don’t!
You were so lucky in so many ways and have more than your share of obstacles to deal with now. The story can wait. Take all the time you need to recover.
          “interesting structures.” Heh.

          1. My sister thinks that the ER doc just gave up reading the CT scan report because there was so much stuff mentioned, and she just scanned it for trauma. She did not mention that I needed follow up on the changes in my thyroid; I found it when I read the report for myself.
Drink more water! is really bad medical advice because I am currently rationed on how much fluid a day I can drink. Thank heavens I read my medical reports.
