Yes, the flow of immigrants into this country has been pretty steady for several centuries. For all its flaws, this place manages to keep attracting. I’ve often given thanks for the good fortune of having been born here.
Just remember, guys, it’s not “the greatest country on earth” because there’s no such place. It’s your country and you love it, but there are quite a few that stand up very well in comparison.
No need to consider yourselves the best: that leads to problems. Sort of like the ones you have.
Now, now. I didn’t say anything about this being the best or greatest country on earth. Another day perhaps. The Fourth of July is a celebration of our founding as a free and independent nation. No more, no less.
