Am I the only one who imagines that among those unidentified, unidentifiable, masked, and gun-toting ICE agents are a number of xenophobes, petty criminals, thugs, etc? Maybe even some pardoned J6 rioters and insurrectionists? They’re all getting paid to do legally what they couldn’t have done otherwise.
I respect ICE and the work they do. Or did. Before Trump. Before their mission became going into blue cities and states to hassle, detain, arrest, imprison, deport anybody who looks foreign, or isn’t carrying the proper papers (or even if they are), even if they are already authorized to be in the country, or even if, reportedly, some are legal citizens of the United States. All without the due process hearings to which they are legally entitled.
I’ve watched most of today’s coverage about the ICE agent shooting and killing an innocent woman, Renee Nicole Good, in Minneapolis today. I’ve watched the videos of what happened. Many times. And I was and am outraged. After the first statement from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, I was apoplectic. And of course Trump joined in with his own unimpeachable presidential version.
I watched the Minneapolis mayor telling ICE to “get the f**k out of Minneapolis.” And Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz saying he was issuing a “warning order” preparing the Minn. National Guard to deploy if necessary.
ICE vs. National Guard. Not a confrontation a sane person would want to see, but in Trump’s America, who knows. Noem has announced ICE is not leaving Minneapolis.
A side note, mentioned on CNN, was that ICE agents do not wear body cams. Why not? If other law enforcement agencies are required to wear them, why not ICE? What are they hiding? If what they are doing is legal, why would they object?
Maybe because they hope to avoid accountability for things like today’s shooting, for doing things like this:
Anti-ICE demonstrations have sprung up this evening in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, Orlando, and elsewhere.
And I thought 2025 started badly …
Of course I don’t actually like this post at all, Colorado: but it needs to be broadcast in every corner of the fucking WORLD !!!!!
That criminal arsehole of a woman who stood there in her fancy hat and just LIED to camera needs to be stopped from speaking about anything at all. But then, so does the entire array of the “administration” – all as criminal as one another.
Murderers, ICE. We’ve known it for some time: it’s that this current murder was so utterly, UTTERLY unnecessary and mindless and so perfect an example of what Trump has done …
… and right there in the video for anyone and everyone to see and judge for themselves. Kristi Noem and Donald Trump — and now VP Vance — can lie and spin and gaslight all they want. The video speaks for itself.
It’s astounding to me still that those unspeakable people know perfectly well that what they’re saying is KNOWN TO BE NOTHING BUT LIES, and yet they say it !

I learned late last night that she was from Colorado and still has family here in Aurora. There was a vigil for her last night.

Yes, the current culture of ICE reflects the preferences of its masters, just as a ship’s crew reflects the preferences and personality of its captain. The Trump Administration clearly values hatred and fear over kindness and trust. They are tearing our country apart.
As I type, VP Vance (the likely Republican candidate for president in 2028) is on the tv and what he’s saying about yesterday’s events is nauseating. I’m not blind. And not deaf. And not stupid. I’m not a domestic terrorist because I object to this administration’s activities. Nor does that make me a radical leftist. I’m a centrist, an unaffiliated voter, and a very, very angry American.
