Thanks to timethief for notice of yet another WordPress change to their “comment follow-up” tinkering: “May 17, 2012, 9:57 PM Update (May 17): Since this feature went live we’ve had a bunch of feedback and it looks like following comments by default is not a good fit for a lot of bloggers (and their readers) after all. We looked at a few different options, but for now we’ve just changed things back to how they were before. To follow a conversation, make sure you check the box when you post a comment.” In other words, after creating email chaos for all of us, WordPress has (for now, at least) put everything back the way it was some 10 days ago. The big “announcement” came as a comment from ajmattic on the 5th page of comments on the matter. I sense WP developers slinking into the shadows with their tails between their legs …
Thank goodness for that!
If not for timethief, I’d have spent many frustrating hours trying to find that options page again to check my settings, etc. WP should be more forthright in announcing changes, no matter what they are.
Hurrah. Closure! Now I just want to know what WP were gaining from the business. Increase in e mail traffic?
I noticed they had changed it back. Much better. Wise move. My inbox was exploding!
I suspect they were deafened by the sound of exploding in-boxes across the country.
