Today Kate Shrewsday wrote about modern court jesters in the UK, and I was reminded instantly of the old Danny Kaye film The Court Jester (1956*). The humor of that era might not play well today but I’ve never forgotten and never stopped giggling (like the 13-year-old girl I was) over the silly verbal gymnastics in these two “flagon with the dragon” scenes.
*Movie buffs will have to explain to me why the movie is dated variously as 1955 or 1956. All I can determine is that it was produced in 1955 and released in January 1956.

Yep, I remember that one. Lucille Ball certainly had her moments, although I never cared for her.
