Breckinridge, Colo., photographer Nate Zeman captured this magnificent shot of a rainbow in front of Longs Peak (14,259 ft) in Rocky Mountain National Park. The shot was from Trail Ridge Road, a fine paved road open to automobiles from approximately the end of May to mid-October. I’ve been up there a lot, but have never seen a rainbow this spectacular.
WHO HAS ?????! – that’s simply amazing, Susan … The bloke must be chuffed beyond belief !
No doubt. You can prowl the mountains for years and never see this.
Doubt we’ll see another for a very long time. Thanks for posting it – but of course you would ! 🙂
That’s utterly amazing! Thanks for sharing.
I’ve seen a lot of rainbows, but the intensity of this one beats them all.
Nice….it makes me want to move there.
The mountains will always be here, but I can’t promise rainbows like this.
Beautiful shot– and perfect since the pot of gold at the end of this rainbow is RMNP 🙂
I hadn’t thought of that. You’re absolutely right.
Absolutely gorgeous, and a great way to start my day!
His work always brightens my day, too.
Spectacular! Never saw one that brilliant in Hawaii!
I’ve seen some impressive photos from there, but you’re right. None like this.
this is so incredibly beautiful, thank you so much for sharing!
By all means check out Zeman’s website for more goodies.
A beautiful photo.
When I see rainbows, or pictures of rainbows, it’s natural to wonder how far away they are. But of course, rainbows aren’t objects but artifacts of refraction when light passes through moisture in the air. Science and art – great combination.
I wish I could remember the distance (as the crow flies) from Trail Ridge Road to Longs Peak. For some reason “10 to 14 miles” come to mind. Judging from the ridges visible here, I’d say this rainbow was closer to the peak than to the road, putting it at least 5 to 7 miles from the photographer.
That’s just awesome! 🙂
I’ve never seen one even remotely comparable.
Just gorgeous – never seen one like this. Trail Ridge sounds like such a dream right now (95 yesterday) Are they going to rebuild the one way dirt old Fall River Rd back?
95 already!? Ouch. No news on Fall River. Last I heard was closed through 2014.
Sigh. only 85 due today…but then it’s all scorch.
Really afraid the eco minded will fight to keep that road closed. It’s part of the deal of going there…and those trails.
Well, all we can do is cross our fingers. I’m guessing they’ll fix it, but it will take a long time.
Your pictures are spectacular
Oh, this isn’t mine. Read again, please. This is by professional photographer Nate Zeman. He was gracious enough to give me permission to reprint some of his work.
