In a week flooded with seemingly endless awful news, I needed a break, a moment of beauty and tranquility.
This is a screenshot from Eric Calkins’ Longs Peak webcam, captured a few minutes ago. The camera is live, mounted on Prospect Mountain in the middle of Estes Park, Colo., and looks south toward Longs Peak. That’s Mary’s Lake in the foreground. In this shot, Longs Peak is hidden in the clouds. The camera view can be enlarged to full screen size. There’s not a lot of activity, but you can watch the clouds, light, and weather change and in the evening, see headlights coming down into town from the Tahosa Valley. Multiple time-lapse videos are available on the same page. Dawn and dusk are probably the best times for viewing.
Sept 12, 2017: It appears this camera is no longer working. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Perfection in any weather– didn’t have this cam, thanks!
