Hi PT– The Broadway channel on S/XM has played her songs from “Applause, Applause” and “Woman of the Year” along with stories about how truly classy she was as a performer across the genres. One of our last ‘real’ stars for sure! Years ago, 1st visit to NYC, i saw her walking along 5th Ave; always regretted not speaking to her….
Learned some things I hadn’t known from Bacall’s obituary. She was something of a wild thing with Bogie and his crowd in those days, a staunch defender of free expression, and a passionate Democrat. She was a lady of real character. Hedy Lamar was too. Beware stereotypes, these pretty faces can belie their natures. 🙂
Don’t make them like her anymore how lucky are we oldies to have had such real stars to grace our lives.
She defined “classy” and “sultry.” There will never be another like her.

And I’ll bet she’d have been gracious to a fault.

“All I know is what I read in the papers.” And what I see on the screen.
Apparently she told Sinatra to shut up and sing, what a woman !
Haha. And I’ll bet he did, too.
