Erik Stensland posted this new photograph of Longs Peak on his Facebook page this morning. It was shot last night as the sun was going down. Longs is my favorite peak in Rocky Mountain National Park and I always love seeing it in new ways. For some reason I found this shot particularly reminiscent of the spectacular Himalayas in Nepal and the ongoing disaster there — and I am more sobered than uplifted.
Some of natures events remind of us our minor impact on the grand scheme – It IS sobering.
When the Indian subcontinent decides to crash into the Asian mainland, we are merely helpless ants along for the ride.
