Ten years since Miracle on the Hudson

Steven Day/Associated Press

It was ten years ago today — January 15, 2009 — that Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger safely ditched his US Airways Airbus A320 in the Hudson River after striking a flock of geese while taking off from New York City. All 155 people on board survived, thanks to Capt. Sullenberger’s cool head and excellent flying skills. To this day he continues to demonstrate his wisdom and humility, and he’ll always be one of my heroes.

The mustache is gone but the smile is unmistakable.

      1. well it would have had about 7000 US gallons (as opposed to Imperial gallons) of fuel which would eventually have leaked out into the East River and caused who can imagine how much destruction.
So I’d say it probably did a lot of good.

... and that's my two cents
