Fate whispers to the warrior, ‘You cannot withstand the storm.’ The warrior whispers back, ‘I am the storm.’
Such bravado! Nevertheless, the screenshot is me — er, my character — in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the video game that your gaming grandma (moi) has been playing since its release November 10. The quality of the image suffered mightily in going from my spiffy new Xbox Series X to my phone to my computer, but it may still be the best screenshot I’ve ever gotten from one of my games (especially since the camera was panning at the time). Anyway, gaming continues to be my favorite pastime during the pandemic, although I’m nowhere near being “the storm.”
I’ve been lucky with this character in that tattoos are supposedly a big customization option and I stumbled across this paint job instead, which I like much better than any of the monochromatic tattoos. So far.
Note: The quote is classic, but it or a variation of it has been attributed to at least half a dozen different sources. What a shame. I’d love to know and credit the original source.

Now THAT is a warrior for sure! Pretty cool image even if you think quality suffered in the transfer. Is your name the same as in other games or did you choose something special?
In this game I didn’t get to choose. The name is gender-neutral: Eivor (because you can make your character either male or female). And it’s pronounced AY-vore, not EEE-vore or EYE-vor. Strange, those Vikings.
be the storm – love it!
I do my best. I should at least get an E for effort.
