The sound of shadows

Colorado Highway 72 near Ward

I love driving mountain roads. I particularly love driving along a stretch like this — one that’s zippered with shadows. I always expect to hear rumble-strips under me, or maybe the clackity-clack of a stick being dragged along a picket fence. It’s weird to drive through those shadows in complete silence when obviously there should be some kind of sound as they slap the car in rapid succession. Maybe next time …

      1. Ever since first travelling to France with my beloved bloke, I’ve been crazy for mountains. We don’t have ’em – well, only in Tasmania. You have lots – and may in your State !! Lucky old you. 😀

... and that's my two cents
