I just heard that Trump has rescinded his freeze on federal funding. That was the subject of my first letter to Congress yesterday. I objected to the halting of funding for a number of federal aid programs.
And as I type, CNN commentators and NBC News are saying it was the big negative response from constituents that moved the needle in Congress, that moved Republicans in particular, and brought about Trump’s rescission.
“Americans fought back and Donald Trump backed off,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in a statement.
Of course the resistance began with a judge putting a temporary freeze on the order. There is speculation that the order (memo?) was rescinded because the White House feared it might be illegal.
So, it seems a big enough reaction from the public can influence Washington legislators.

Our voice does matter, and the louder it is, the more they pay attention. Even my state, which is generally right leaning (and voted for the orange one), joined the lawsuit against the the order.
At this point I hope the whole country is watching the Kennedy hearings because every one of us will be adversely affected if his nomination is approved.
